In 2018, University of Oxford researchers Joseph Poore and Thomas Nemecek conducted the largest meta-analyses of global food systems known to date. They analysed data from 570 studies, 139 authors, covering over 38,000 farms from 119 different countries.
The subset of data on plant milk and dairy’s environmental footprint is a stark contrast between land use, emissions, and water use per litre of the final product.
In every case, milk derived from dairy uses more resources and is more destructive for the environment.
